Ukrainian boxer Lomachenko wins Val Barker Trophy at Beijing Olympics

    BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The International Boxing Association (AIBA) announced here on Sunday that Vasyl Lomachenko from Ukraine, the 57kg featherweight gold medalist, was the winner of the Val Barker Trophy at the Beijing Olympic Games.

    The Val Barker Trophy is awarded to the outstanding and most stylistic boxer of each Olympic Games since 1936.

    The trophy was established in honor of Val Barker, who was the first Honorary Secretary of the Federation Internationale de Boxe Amateur in 1920.
