Myanmar to send three athletes to Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games

    YANGON, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will send three athletes to compete in two sports in the forthcoming Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, China, next month, according to the Myanmar Olympic Committee (MOC) on Saturday.

    Myanmar will compete in swimming and track and field with three male athletes, Win San Aung and Naing Sit Aung in swimming and Win Naing in track and field events in the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games scheduled on Sept. 6-17, the MOC said.

    Naing Sit Aung and Win Naing grabbed three gold medals each for the country in the 4th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Para Games in Thailand in January this year.

    Naing Sit Aung won in men's 200-meter freestyle, men's 50 and 100 meters backstroke in the swimming event, and Win Naing in the men's shot put, discus and javelin in the track and field event.
