BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Carmelo Anthony said Monday that the United States men's basketball team will give the gold medal to Kobe Bryant as a birthday present when he turns to 30 on Saturday.

    "We all know that (the date of Kobe's birthday). We won't celebrate with him but we'll give him presents. I think the gold medal is the best present," Anthony said after a 106-57 victory over Germany.

    Kobe's family are in Beijing, watching the Los Angeles Lakers guard and the U.S. team to seek for their first Olympic title in eight years.
