BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- World champions Spain overcame a flat start to crash Angola 98-50 in a Group B match on Monday at the men's basketbal competitions.
Pau Gasol had 31 points and nine rebounds to pace the
way to Spain's fourth win of the tournament. Spain finished second to meet
Croatia in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Angola (0-5) had a perfect first quarter to lead
23-15, but were crashed by Spain's 17-0 run to see them down by 32-25 in the
second quarter.
The African champions lost the momentum in the second
half as they scored only 20 points in 20 minutes, while the Spaniards carried on
for a 58-point spree to conquer the win.
