    ISLAMABAD, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf will address the nation on Monday afternoon, local TV channel reported.

    "President Musharraf will address the nation at 1 p.m." Dawn News TV channel quoted president spokesman Rashid Qureshi as saying.

    But Qureshi did not say what Musharraf will say at the address.

    Musharraf is facing an impeachment pressure from the ruling coalition.

Presidential spokesman: Musharraf not to resign

    ISLAMABAD, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf will not resign while addressing the nation on Monday afternoon, said presidential spokesman Rashid Qureshi.

    The reports on Musharraf's resignation "are nonsense," Qureshi told Xinhua via telephone.  Full story

Pakistan coalition likely to table resolution against Musharraf

    ISLAMABAD, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's National Assembly, or lower house of parliament, will resume its session on Monday and the ruling coalition may table a resolution asking President Pervez Musharraf to take a vote of confidence or resign.

    "The four-party coalition may table a resolution asking Musharraf to take a vote of confidence or resign, as the lower house of parliament meets following a two-day break," Daily Times newspaper reported.  Full story

Official: Charge-sheet against Musharraf finalized

    ISLAMABAD, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's ruling coalition's draft committee Sunday finalized the charge-sheet against President Pervez Musharraf, said Information Minister Sherry Rehman.

    The final round of the consultations of the draft committee was held Sunday at Rehman's residence in Islamabad. Full story

Pakistani FM: No need for impeachment if Musharraf resigns

    ISLAMABAD, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Saturday that there would be no need for impeachment against President Pervez Musharraf if he resigns before the move.

    Speaking to media at the airport in eastern Pakistan's city Multan, Qureshi said that Musharraf should step down before the impeachment proceedings are initiated in the parliament, private Geo TV reported.  Full story
