JOHANNESBURG, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- South Africa, host of the 2010 Soccer World Cup, should draw on the experience of Beijing which is presenting the world an incredible Olympic event, said South Africa's newspaper Herald on Saturday.

Similar to South Africa's world cup journey, Beijing's preparation for the Olympic Games had witnessed twists and turns. However, China rebutted oppugning voices with amazing performance, it said.

The Chinese government and people, with delicate preparation for the Games, have won international understanding, trust and respect, it added.

Since Beijing won the host bid in 2001, China has managed to build state-of-the-art Olympic venues and a mass service system, while Beijing's infrastructure, environment and transportation have been significantly improved, it said, noting the organizing committee of 2010 World Cup should take China's measures as a reference.

The newspaper also praised the marvelous showcase of China's 5,000-year-long civilization and diversified cultures during the Beijing Olympics, saying that South Africa should take the 2010 event as a good opportunity for displaying the country's unique culture and history.
