Chinese medal hopefuls Zheng/Yan lose in semis at Olympic tennis

    BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese eighth seeds Zheng Jie and Yan Zi lost to Spanish fourth seeds Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual 6-4, 7-6(5) in the women's doubles semifinals on Saturday.

    In an earlier match, China's singles player Li Na also lost to Russian sixth seed Dinara Safina in the semifinals.

    Chinese players Li Ting/Sun Tiantian won the women's doubles gold medal in the Athens Games four years ago.
