QINHUANGDAO, East China, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria leads Cote d'Ivoire 1-0 at half time of the Olympic men's soccer tournament quarterfinals here on Saturday.

Both African teams depended too much on their individual skills, but showed little team work on the pitch. Their attacks are usually warded off by the defense line.

Nigeria's striker Peter Odemwingie finally seized a chance just one minute before halftime, when he volleyed Victor Obinna's pass into the left net. Cote d'Ivoire's goalkeeper Vincent Angban tipped the ball, but couldn't deflect it out.
