China leads 19-9 over Germany in men's basketball first quarter

    BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- China started strong to lead 19-9 over Germany after the first quarter of the Olympic men's basketball Group B match-up here on Saturday.

    Yao ming shot 4-out-of-6 to score eight points and Yi Jianlian, Wang Zhizhi added five points each.

    China played solid defence as Germany shot 3-out-of-17 in the field, while Chinese guard Sun Yue had two blocks and three rebounds in this quarter.

    Germany was led by Dirk Nowitzki's seven points.
