    BEIJING, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chris Hoy claimed Britain's third track cycling gold medal after winning men's keirin event at the Beijing Olympic Games in Laoshan Velodrome on Saturday.

    "It just means everything to me. You don't think about the podium or the medal, it's all about the process," Hoy said.

    Leading the World Cup standings, the 31-year-old keirin expert went into the first and final round with clear margins above his challengers.

    "I put in every ounce of effort. It was sheer hard work on my behalf and on behalf of the coaches," Hoy said, "I had to think about the finish like nothing else. Once I got there, it was unbelievable."

    Holy's compatriot Ross Edgar took the silver and Japan's Kiyofumi Nagai got the bronze.

    Australia's Shane Kelly just failed to medal, finishing fourth in his last Olympic event.

    "I had to make the move, and I was unlucky, I caught his hip. I went the long way. But I'm not disappointed, I put everything out on the track and you can't ask for more," Kelly said.

    Kelly believes Hoy is the best, saying: "He's unbelievable. He is a powerhouse, and his record speaks for itself."

    Germany's Carsten Bergemann was fifth and Frenchman Arnaud Tournant placed sixth.

    Bradley Wiggins took the second gold for Britain after beating Hayden Roulston of New Zealand in the men's individual pursuit.

    Britain had taken a sweet revenge on France when they beat their arch rivals to snatch the men's team sprint on Friday.

    Britain has won eight cycling medals so far including four golds. Nicole Cooke claimed Britain's first gold in Beijing by wining the women's road race last Sunday.
