BEIJING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Park Kyung-Mo was the only one South Korean still standing after his two teammates, Lee Chang-Hwan and Im Dong-Hyun, were knocked out in the 1/8 men's individual elimination at the Olympic archery field on Friday.

    The biggest upset of the morning session came when Victor Wunderle from United States, the No. 41 seed, conquered the No. 8 seed Im on the last arrow, 113-111.

    "I'm not necessarily surprised (to advance to the quarterfinals). I knew I could do it if I shot well. Any time you make it through a match like this is a good day. I came here to win a medal," said Wunderle.

    Despite his low ranking, Wunderle is a three-time Olympian and has an individual silver and team bronze from Sydney 2000.

    "It's definitely a stressful environment. There's a lot of people who are wishing you luck and I'm trying hard to represent them the best I can. It was a very challenging match," added Wunderle.

    The second major upset for South Korea featured the No. 10 seed Lee as he and the No. 26 seed Cheng Chu Sian of Malaysia were tied, 105-105. Lee eventually lost in a two-arrow shoot-off.

    "I made a mistake in the first end. I couldn't control my posture," said Lee.

    As expected, the No. 1 seed, Juan Rene Serrano of Mexico, won his match easily against No. 48 seed Maksim Kunda of Belarus 110-106.

    "When I see my fans in the stands I get excited. Mexico is in my heart and I'll go as far as I can for my country," said Serrano.

    Viktor Ruban of Ukraine, Bair Badenov from Russia, Juan Carlos Stevens from Cuba, and Ryuichi Moriya from Japan fill out the quarterfinals field.
