BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- World champion of men's super heavyweight wrestling Mijain Lopez won Cuba here Thursday evening the first gold medal in the Beijing Olympics.

The Cuban defeated defending Olympic gold medalist Khasan Baroev of Russia in two overwhelming bouts in the men's 120kg Greco-Roman competition.

Mindaugas Mizgaitis of Lithuania and Yuri Patrikeev of Armenia won the two bronze medals.
