BEIJING, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- A rowing jury has rejected the protest by a Swedish women single sculls rower about the result of her semifinal A/B, according to an official release issued here Thursday.

The official paper, issued by the Board of Jury, said that the board of jury considered the protest and its decision was that "the protest be rejected and the result confirmed."

Swedish rower Frida Svensson objected to the result on the grounds that the weed affected her boat in the first 500 meters of the race held in Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park on Wednesday.

As no weed was found on the boat, the objection was rejected by the Umpire. The Swede then lodged a protest in accordance with the rules, the paper said.

Frida Svensson was the last in her group to hit the finish line with a result of 7 minutes 46.38 seconds, having no chance to enter final A contest according to competition rules.

The Swedish rower, born in August 1981, finished her single sculls race in the eighth place at Athen Olympics in 2004 with a result of 7 minutes 32.02 seconds and won two bronze medals in World Cup contests in 2005 and 2007.

Sweden sent two rowers, one male and one female, to the Beijing Olympics.
