PRAGUE, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Slovakia will send humanitarian aid worth 5.6 million crowns (280,000 U.S. dollars) to Georgia, afflicted by an armed conflict with Russia in recent days, according to report from Bratislava, Slovakia on Wednesday.
Slovakia will send mainly sleeping bags, blankets, camp beds, clothes and medicines to Georgia, the Slovak Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry said that it wants to dispatch the material as quickly as possible, in cooperation with other EU countries.
The Slovak Catholic Charity has also launched a fund raising campaign in support of people in Georgia.
Georgia launched military actions against South Ossetia's forces last week in an attempt to re-establish control over the region. In response, Russian troops moved into the region to fight Georgian forces. Russia and Georgia agreed to a truce Wednesday.
