Hungarian fencer Mincza takes bronze at women's epee individual event

    BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian fencer Ildiko Mincza Nebald beat China's Li Na 15-11 here Wednesday to take bronze medal of the 2008 Beijing Olympics women's epee individual event.

    Mincza, who won the fourth place in the Athens Games, was lower in world rankings than the third seed Li Na. Mincza stroke the first point, but her rival Li reversed it immediately and kept a lead till a 9-9 draw.

    After offsetting the deficit, the Hungarians successfully made a string a hits to defeat Li at 15-11.

    The gold medal match will feature Germany's Britta Heidemann and Ana Maria Branza of Romania.
