Chinese badminton mixed doubles hope eliminated in first round

    BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese badminton mixed doubles hope Gao Ling and Zheng Bo were eliminated in the first round at the Beijing Olympic Games here on Tuesday.

    The duo lost to Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson from Britain at 16-21, 21-16, 19-21.

    Gao Ling, together with her then partner Zhang Jun, was a gold medalist for the Athens Olympic Games, while Zheng was a quarterfinalist in men's doubles at that time. Their world ranking was No. 2, well above their opponents' No. 9.

    The British pare hugged each other after their victory.
