BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- Jayne Pearce, press chief for the London Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, praised here on Tuesday the excellent organizing of the Beijing Olympics especially the services for the media.
"The services for the media are very good," Pearce said. "The media come to the Olympics to work. We have to make sure that they have good access to the venues, they can see the sport, they have good technology to report the games and they have access to the athletes. We also should provide good accommodation and transport.
Beijing has done
very well on all those counts. And we would hold the same in London."
"The press conferences run very well and the media have very good working conditions," she said.
Pearce, who has been in Beijing for three weeks,
has visited six venues and attended the opening ceremony of the Beijing
Olympics. She said Beijing is a fantastic city and this year's Summer Olympic Games will be a great one.
When talking about the purpose of her
journey to Beijing , she said this is really the
only opportunity for London Organizing Committee to gain experience in preparation for the Summer Games in 2012.
"I come here with 100 colleagues to
look, to learn, to listen, and to help us in our plan for
London in
2012," she said.
Pearce was appointed press
chief for the 2012 Olympics by the London Organizing Committee of the
Olympic Games on May 15, 2008.
"This is a dream come true for me," said
Pearce. "It is the culmination of a career and a challenge I relish. To be
responsible for providing the press operations service for over 20,000 media in
London
in 2012
is an incredible prospect but one that I am ready for.
"I think my main job is reducing and
minimizing the problems the media have to face in 2012," she said.
Jayne Pearce is founder and co-director
of Pearce International, a company that specialises in media operations for
