Chinese president meets with foreign leaders

    BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on Saturday met separately with several foreign leaders in the Great Hall of the People in central Beijing.

    The foreign leaders included President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Myung bak, President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar, Uzbek President Islam Karimov, and Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. Full story

    BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao met on Saturday with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Vladimirovic Putin and proposed further bilateral and multilateral cooperation in diverse fields to achieve common development.

    "China and Russia are forging ahead with the partnership of strategic cooperation toward their established goals, and the development of both countries are faced with opportunities and challenges at the same time," Hu said.  Full story

Chinese President Hu Jintao said here on Saturday that China and African countries enjoy profound friendship, and China will never forget the stanch support from African countries and peoples.

    BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao said here on Saturday that China and African countries enjoy profound friendship, and China will never forget the stanch support from African countries and peoples.

    China appreciates the unswerving support from African countries on issues like Taiwan and Tibet, which have a bearing on China's national sovereignty, territorial integrity and core interests, Hu told some African leaders at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in west Beijing. Full story
