China's Li Guojie eliminated in men's epee

    BEIJING, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese fencer Li Guojie was defeated by South Korea's Jung Jin Sun 15-6 in the round of 32 preliminaries of men's epee individual event of the 2008 Olympic Games, while on another piste French fencer Jerome Jeannet narrowly survived.

    "He was obviously too nervous," South Korea's Jung said of his rival after his victory.

    In another match, Jeannet, ranked number two in the world, beat Nikolai Novosjolov of Estonia 15-14. The French player lagged behind from the beginning, but managed to catch up 14-14. He narrowly survived with the decisive final hit.
