ISLAMABAD, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani President
Pervez Musharraf said Saturday he would face impeachment with a democratic
spirit.
During a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid
(PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain here, Musharraf said he would face the
impeachment to be leveled by the ruling coalition and advised the ruling party
to adopt a thoughtful way.
Musharraf said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)
leader Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was doing revengeful politics and also said he
would not dissolve assemblies, the News Network International news agency
reported.
Musharraf said he had served the country and he
neither robbed the country nor was involved in any corruption.
He said the constitutional charges against him were
all baseless and he had taken the decision declaring a state of emergency in the
best interest of the country.
Musharraf said he wanted to see what kind of charges
the ruling party would bring against him and then he would decide for his
future. He also advised the ruling party to avoid worsening the situation of the
country for the best wishes of only one party.
Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain advised Musharraf to avoid
dissolving assemblies, saying if he wanted to do so then PML-Q would not support
him for this act.
He told Musharraf that they would support him in
facing the impeachment.
Local media reports said Musharraf had signed a
summary by the government to convene a session of National Assembly on the
impeachment on Monday.
