Russian defeated in semifinals, U.S. secures women's sabre individual gold

BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- U.S. women sabreur Jacobson Sada defeated Russia's Velikaya Sofiya 15-11 Saturday at the semifinals of women's sabre individual event, securing the gold for the United States.

Another semifinal match is going on between U.S. fencers Ward Becca and Zagunis Mariel.

Sofiya led the match from the beginning, but Jaconson managed to catch up and leveled the results at 9-9. The two then tied at 10-10 and 11-11. Jaconson overtook from 12-11 and kept her lead till the end of the match. Enditem
