Cubans amazed for Olympic cauldron lighting

    HAVANA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Cuban people reacted on Friday with amazement and admiration for the way the Olympic cauldron was lit during the opening ceremony of the 29th Olympic Games of Beijing in the National Stadium (Bird's Nest).

    Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo watched the opening ceremony at the Chinese embassy in Cuba.

    "It has been a successful inauguration," Lazo said.

    Lazo went to the Chinese embassy accompanied by the chief of International Affairs Fernando Ramirez and the chief of the Ideological Department of the Communist Party of Cuba Rolando Alfonso.

    The inauguration ceremony of the Olympic Games was broadcasted life in Cuba by the TV channel Tele-Rebelde, which till Aug. 24 will be broadcasting 24 the Olympics.

    Cubans were amazed for the originality, creativity, coloring and technology of the inauguration ceremony of the Games, that according to almost all was an spectacular show.
