Media hail artist for winning Olympic painting contest

    YANGON, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar private media hailed on Wednesday the country's artist, U Myo Khin, for winning a gold award in the 2008 Olympic fine arts exhibition contest to mark the Beijing Olympic Games.

    The winning Myanmar painting was among the selected seven out of those from over 80 countries and regions.

    Of the other six winning paintings, five are from China and one from France.

    The winning Myanmar painting was done by U Myo Khin from Mandalay Htanyeiknmyo Art Center, the 7-Day News said.

    U Myo Khin will receive the award next Monday in Beijing to be presented by the Olympic Committee, the report added.

    Myanmar is sending a 20-member sports delegation including six athletes to take part in the upcoming 2008 Beijing Olympic Games which runs from Aug. 8 to 24 in Beijing, China. ¡¡
