Argentine soccer player Guilazu rejects Al Jazeera club's offer

    RIO DE JANEIRO Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- The Argentine forward Pablo Guilazu refused the offer made by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), so he will stay at the Internacional de Porto Alegre club, president of the Brazilian club Vitorio Piffero said Sunday.

    "We and the fans wanted him to stay, although the economical Al Jazeera offer had reached an acceptable level for the Internacional. But it was the same player who didn't want to leave," Piffero said.

    According to Piffero, till the moment there was not an agreement among the part to compensate the player for his decision on stay in the club.

    Guilazu has a contract with the Internacional till June 2010.

    Since Guilazu arrived the Internacional in 2007, he has been the captain of the team and one of the most loved players by the fans who during all the games of the club sang "Guilazu stay."

    When he got the offer from Az Jazeera, Guilazu said that the offer was tentative, however he said he rejected it because of his family and the fans.

    The announcement about Guilazu's stay was published a day after Internacional club won 2-1 against Fluminense club.

    With 25 points in 17 matches, the Internacional is on seventh place of the Brazilian soccer Championship.
