BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Chinaview) -- Gianni Merlo, president of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), said on Friday that the organizing works of the Olympic Games are very well done.

Merlo said he felt "very fresh" when he arrived here on Thursday, though he has been to the country several times.

"It ( Beijing) is really different now, there are lots of beautiful changes," Merlo added during an interview with Chinaview.cn.

"There is nothing impossible in this world. Everything can be done in a proper way. We have to talk, we have to understand each other, and we can find the solution all together," added the experienced reporter, who has covered the Olympic Games 18 times (including Summer and Winter Olympics).

Merlo , whose first experience in China was in 1978, said, "It is positive that there were a lot of changes in the past years. The Beijing Olympics is only the beginning and the beginning is good."

He also gave some suggestions to the young journalists; saying they should go to the sources more, instead of just searching on the Internet.

"We have to consult the sources and study the sources, and we must be very professional; we mustn't be lazy, especially the younger generations who are growing up with laptops have to go deeper in problems and read more, not only just take what comes from the screen as the truth. So we should keep learning on the daily bases.

"In many ways we are the guardians of fairness in sport. It is our duty to promote the value of this because sport is vital for the younger generations, not only as a physical exercise but related to culture and development of peace and understanding between the people and the world," he said.
