    BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- More than 2,500 athletes have checked into the Beijing Olympic Village before noon here on Friday.

    Yang Cuisong, press manager of the Olympic Village, said that a total of 2,499 athletes from 141 delegations have moved into the village by July 31.

    Among the villagers are some 80 athletes from China's hockey teams and baseball team. And other Chinese teams will move in later under their respective competition schedule.

    After host China, Benin and Honduras had their flag-raising ceremonies in the morning while Morocco and Turkmenistan held their ceremonies at the village in the afternoon.
