Special report: 2008 Olympic Games
PYONGYANG, July 28 (Xinhua) -- A Beijing Olympic wrestling qualifier from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) vowed to win a good result, creating a prosperous period for the DPRK wrestling, a Korean newspaper reported Monday.
"I know my responsibility and what the people expected," Cha Kwang Su, Asian Wrestling Championship silver medalist, told the web version of Choson Sinbo, a newspaper run by ethnic Koreans in Japan.
"1980s' DPRK wrestlers were my models. My goal was to win a good result in Beijing, thus creating a new flourishing period for the DPRK wrestling," Cha said.
DPRK wrestlers in 1980s have won several gold medals in world wrestling championship. They also won crowns in the Olympic Games in 1990s. But in the new century, their records were not as good as before.
Three DPRK wrestlers have qualified for the Beijing Olympic Games.
