Special report: 2008 Olympic Games

BEIJING, July 26 (Xinhua) -- The men's and women's basketball teams of the United States will stay out of the Olympic Village during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Deng Yaping, deputy head of the Village, said Friday that all the members of the U.S. delegation would stay at the Village.

But the U.S. basketball teams have booked rooms at the Inter-Continental Hotel at the Financial Street, the first international five-star hotel in the area.

Detailed information is not confirmed by the USA Basketball, but sources from the NBA China, the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) and the U.S. delegation said the basketball teams will not stay in the Village.

The U.S. Olympic basketball teams have never stayed in the Olympic Village since the Dream Team competed at the 1992 Barcelona Games.
