    CANBERRA, July 25 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice left Australia on Friday after a whirlwind visit to Perth, the state capital of West Australia.

    Before leaving Perth, Rice addressed an outdoor press conference in her last official duty as a guest of Foreign Affairs Minister Stephen Smith, the Australian Associated Press reported.

    Earlier, she had visited Special Air Service troops at the Swanbourne Barracks and laid a wreath at the King's Park cenotaph.

    Rice, who flew to Perth on Thursday, spoke to 450 schoolgirls at the Mercedes College in Perth, where Smith's daughter Maddie is a student and was among the audience.
