Special report: 2008 Olympic Games
MONTEVIDEO, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay will compete with two sportsmen in the Paralympics Games of Beijing 2008, to be held from Sep. 6 to 17, the Uruguayan Olympic Committee said on Thursday.
Blind athletes Henry Borges will compete in judo and Alvaro Perez in marathon.
Borges, 25, got his pass during a competence in San Pablo and he will compete for the second time in the Paralympics Games. Borges won a silver medal during the Pan American Games of Rio de Janeiro 2007.
Perez will compete for the first time in the Paralympics thanks to a wild card give to Uruguay, and he will compete in the 42km marathon, accompanied by two guide athletes.
Uruguayan delegation for the Paralympics will travel to Chine on Aug 28.
During the Paralympics Games of Athens 2004, Uruguay dispatched three athletes.
