GAZA, July 22 (Xinhua) -- A Hamas militant was killed in an unknown circumstance in eastern Gaza city on Tuesday, the Islamic movement's armed wing said.

A statement by Ezz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas said Khalil Ibraheem Jendeya, 24, has been killed during a Jihad mission, without providing any details.

Meanwhile, Mu'awia Hassanein working with the emergency services at the Health Ministry said Jendeya was brought dead to a hospital at 02:00 a.m. local time, along with two others seriously injured with shrapnel on their bodies.

One of the wounded was a young boy, he added.

Since an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire took effect on June 19, violence between Israel and armed groups in Gaza has basically come to a halt.
