Peru declares state of emergency over possible water pollution

    LIMA, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The Peruvian government Saturday declared a state of emergency in the east of Lima after signs showed that toxic materials from a mine might flew into the city¡¯s main source of water.

    A 60-day state of emergency in the mountainous district of San Mateo was declared after signs showed that toxic materials of a waste pit at the Coricancha mine might spill into the Rimac River, the capital's main source of water.
