GAZA, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Unknown militants shot dead a member of
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement early Saturday morning in
northern Gaza Strip, sources said.
At 6:00 a.m.(0300 GMT), residents said that the militants attacked the
house of Abdel Salam Abu Taqia, 23, and killed him near Jabaliya refugee camp.
The number of the assailants was unknown.
Abu Taqia was a member of the pro-Abbas naval police until Hamas routed all
forces loyal to Abbas and took control of Gaza Strip.
The body of the slain was moved to Kamal Adwan hospital and the
Hamas-controlled police referred it to autopsy, sources at the hospital said.
Hours later, the Hamas-controlled interior ministry said the murderer was
arrested and the incident was motivated by family differences.
Several members of Fatah and pro-Abbas forces were killed in mysterious
incidents in Gaza Strip since Hamas took over the impoverished region in June
2007.
Fatah and Hamas exchange accusations over crackdown against each other's
supporters in the Gaza Strip and the Fatah-dominated West Bank.
