Cuba's baseball team goes for Olympic gold

    HAVANA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The Cuban baseball national team will compete for their fourth Olympic medal in the 29th Olympic Games in August.

    Cuba has won two gold medals in Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004, an silver medal in Sydney 2000 since this sport was officially included in the Olympics in 1992.

    The coach Antonio Pacheco has called elite players Pedro Luis Lazo, Norge Luis Vera, Vicyohandri Odelin, Adiel Palma, Ariel Pestano, Eduardo Paret, Yulieski Gouriel and Michel Enriquez to bepart of the national team.

    Most of them played in Athens and the World Cup in March 2006.

    Pacheco, once the team's captain in Barcelona and Atlanta, said that in Beijing "we won't have other choice but to win."
