Special report:
2008 Olympic
Games
BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Gymnastics
Association (CGA) will name the Olympic team next week.
A spokesman from CGA told Xinhua on Thursday that the
12-strongname list, including six men and six women, had been decided and handed
in to Chinese Olympic Committee.
But he refused to reveal the names of the selected
gymnasts, saying the squad will be announced in the next week.
"We may have a press conference to announce it or the
name list will automatically be revealed when the whole Chinese Olympic
delegation is announced," he said.
The speculation over the gymnastics lineup centers on
veteran Li Xiaopeng, who recently came back with fine form from long-time
injuries.
The 27-year-old Sydney Olympic champion on parallel
bars was struggling with multiple injuries after the Athens Games in 2004 and
had an ankle operation in 2006.
Expected lineups:
Men: Yang Wei, Li Xiaopeng, Chen Yibin, Xiao Qin,
Huang Xu, ZouKai
Women: Cheng Fei, Jiang Yuyuan, Yang Yilin, He Kexin,
Li Shanshan, Deng Linlin.
