Special report:   2008 Olympic Games

LUSAKA, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Zambian Beijing Olympic-bound runners have been urged to improve their personal best time, according to The Post.

Former world champion Samuel Matete has asked Tony Wamulwa and Rachael Nachulato to focus on improving their personal best time rather than winning the medals.

In an interview here on Wednesday Matete said little should be expected from them.

"The bottom line is that the two athletes are still very young and we should not expect a medal from either one but to improve on their time," he said.

Matete said Wamulwa and Nachula's participation at the Beijing Olympic is also a very good stepping stone to future competitions.

He said the junior athletes should use the event for exposure as well as to gain experience.
