Special report: 2008 Olympic Games

BEIJING, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The games-time version of the official website of the Beijing Olympic Games started to work here on Tuesday, marking the setup of the information release platform for the Games.

Wang Hui, Director of Media and Communications Department of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) told a press conference,"The official website will release information in five languages, namely Chinese, English, French, Spanish and Arabic."

"It will be the website to issue the most intensive Olympic news in the world, thanks to its convenient access to a vast netizen pool," she added.

The website will not only provide immediate official information from authoritative sources about the Games, but also live coverage of press conferences held by BOCOG, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as well as national or regional Olympic committees.

In-game reports will not be the only focus of the website. Instead, netizens will find all sorts of out-game information, concerning the Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, Olympic cultural activities, co-host cities, volunteers, venue operations and so on.

To support BOCOG's services for media and spectators, the website will provide comprehensive information on ticketing, guidelines for spectators, guides to the host city, venues and facilities, as well as transport, hotels and entertainments. An advanced E-map will link netizens to any destination they seek.

"The various information given in the website will be able to satisfy everyone's taste and meet their demands to know about the Beijing Games, which will display the philosophy of 'One World One Dream'," said a confident Wang Hui.
