BEIJING, July 15 -- Beijing will open three new
underground lines this month.
The first phase of Line 10, the Olympic Extension and
the Airport Express Line are currently being tested without passengers, and will
be fully operational before July 20th.
Beijing Municipal transport officials say the No.10
line is 24 kilometers long, with 22 stops. Almost half are inter-exchanges. The
Olympic branch line is 5.91 kilometers' long, and has 4 stops. It's also part of
of the No.8 line.
The Airport express track is 28 km long.
Passengers will be able to transfer from Dongzhimen Station between Loop Line 2
and the Capital Airport Track. It's expected to ease the increasing traffic
congestion on the roads between the airport and downtown areas.
