WARSAW, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Poland's Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski met visiting Afghan Minister for Energy and Water Ismail Khan on Monday to discuss cooperation and Poland's support to Afghanistan.

"We keep our fingers crossed for Afghanistan, for its return to the family of democratic and developing countries and we would like Polish soldiers to complete their mission in Afghanistan as soon as possible," Sikorski told a press conference.

"We discussed the ways of intensification of Polish-Afghan cooperation," Polish news agency PAP quoted the minister as saying. Sikorski stressed that Poland had declared financial aid to Afghanistan.

"We will also be funding scholarships, study visas for Afghan journalists, training Afghan police and officers," Sikorski said.

Poland is ready to send observers to the next Afghan parliamentary and presidential elections, he added.

The Afghan minister thanked Poland for sending soldiers to his country. They are "fighting in the heat of Afghanistan in the defense of the world and humanity," he stressed.
