CAIRO, July 12 (Xinhua) -- The Arab League (AL) is in consultation with Arab foreign ministers to hold an emergency meeting on the disputes between Sudan and the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Egyptian MENA news agency reported Saturday.

The emergency meeting would be held as the pan-Arab bloc has received Sudan's request, head of AL Secretary General Amr Moussa's office Hisham Youssef said, adding the date has yet been set.

The Arab countries will continue to call for not politicizing the ICC activities and not interfering in Sudan's internal affairs, he added.

It was reported that ICC chief prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo is due to submit to the judges "evidence on crimes committed in the whole of (Sudan's) Darfur over the last five years" and seek to charge an individual or individuals.

The Washington Post on Friday quoted UN officials and diplomats as saying that the ICC prosecutor would charge Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir with alleged genocide and crimes against humanity next Monday.

Earlier in the day, Sudan filed the request with the AL secretariat to hold an emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers, Sudanese delegate to the Cairo-based AL Abdel-Moneim Mabrouk said.
