LUANDA, July 12 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations Population Fund (UNPF) at the weekend expressed its satisfaction at the Angolan government's commitment to the people's well-being.
According to a press release issued by the UNPF on the occasion of the World Population's Day which falls on Friday, the Angolan government has made greater efforts in poverty reduction and improvement of people's living standards.
The UNPF document said the Angolan government has been presenting plans and indicators for the reduction of maternal-infantile mortality and morbidity, priorities for education of children as programs that enable to meet the health needs of the adolescents and principles on the harmony of gender equality, population, development and environment.
The document said the guarantee of universal access to reproductive health by 2015 is one of the issues to which the Angolan government is committed as the services protect women and children's health.
The World Population's Day was created by the UNPF in 1987 to mark the date that the population of the world reached five billion. ¡¡
