Special report: 2008 Olympic Games

MADRID, July 10 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish Athletic's Federation announced on Thursday a mobile phone service to allow people to follow the events of next month's Olympic Games wherever they are.

The RFEA have worked with Television Espanola, the state broadcasting service in Spain and the station that have the television rights to the Games, to develop the application that can be downloaded by sending a text message.

The application, which has been developed with the help of mobile phone marketing company Adsmedia, will allow fans to watch the signal provided by TVE 1 and 2 as well as their specialist sports channel Teledeporte.

Fans will also be able to access timetables, interviews and highlights of the day's events in Beijing and the service will be completely free of charge.

"This is an effort to provide a service that is pioneering in all our Europe," explained the Federation on their official website.
