    MANAGUA, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Alexis Arguello, former three-time boxing champion, was appointed to bear the Nicaraguan flag during the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008, spokesman of the Nicaraguan Olympic Committe (CON) informed Wednesday.

    Moises Avalos, who was proposed to the CON by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, said the Arguellos's designation was decided Wednesday during a CON meeting.

    The Nicaraguan Olympic delegation is not formed yet but according to Avalos it will be integrated, among other athletes, by sprinters Juan Zeledon and Jessica Aguilera.

    Zeledon (400 meters) and Aguilera (200 meters) will go to Beijing 2008 under the principle of universality promoted by the International Olympic Committe (IOC).

    The Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 in China will take place from August 8-24.
