Special report: Tension escalates in Iraq

FALLUJAH, Iraq, July 9 (Xinhua) -- A double-roadside-bombs explosion near the city court in Fallujah City killed at least six people and wounded 18 others on Wednesday, a local police source said.

The two roadside bombs exploded in the morning near the building in central Fallujah within minutes of each other, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Four policemen were among the killed, while some of the injured were in critical condition, the source said.

Anbar province, which includes Fallujah some 50 km west of Baghdad, used to be a stronghold for Sunni insurgents since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. Violence there dropped sharply since late2006 and now the city of Fallujah is relatively stable.
