MOSCOW, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev hoped for a stronger ties with the United States in a birthday message to his U.S. counterpart George W. Bush, the Kremlin said on Sunday.
According to reports by the Itar-Tass news agency, Medvedev said he hopes the "frank and constructive dialogue that we have established will help to consolidate further Russian-American relations."
The Russian president said he is expecting more fruitful cooperation with the United States.
"I'm sure that cooperation between our countries will develop gradually and dynamically for the good of Russian and American peoples as well as security and stability in the world," Medvedev said.
Bush, whose 62nd birthday falls on the eve of the G8 summit in the Japanese island of Hokkaido on Sunday, is expected to meet with Medvedev for the first time since the latter took office in May.
