SANAA, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Three women died of dengue fever on Saturday in Yemen's western mountainous areas, local media reported.

    Among the dead were a mother and her daughter, the reports said.

    Many local residents were taken ill with suspected symptoms of dengue fever, the reports added, citing a local official.

    The official urged local sanitary authorities to provide prompt medical aid to those in need.

    According to a report released by the infectious diseases supervision bureau of the health ministry late last month, 115 cases of dengue fever had been diagnosed in five provinces since the beginning of this year and three of them had died.
