Xi arrived in Hong Kong Sunday morning from Shenzhen
on a three-day inspection tour.
It was Xi's first visit to Hong Kong since he assumed
the office of Chinese Vice President in March 2008.
During the meeting, Xi said that the central
government is "satisfied" with Tsang's and the HKSAR government's work, adding
that Hong Kong is on the whole doing well currently.
However, the vice president said that due to the
soaring prices of oil and food in the international market, Hong Kong is facing
mounting inflation pressure, which has affected the daily life of local
citizens, but "the SAR government has adopted some measures to tackle the
issues."
He added that the central government will continue
supporting the SAR government's efforts to boost economic development and
improve the livelihood of local people. "As for the policies the SAR government
put forward demanding support and assistance from the mainland areas, related
central departments are working on them, and these policies will be put into
practice once ready."

characteristics and of high level, adding to the glory of the Beijing Olympics.
Xi is scheduled to inspect the equestrian events
venues for the 2008 Beijing Olympics and Paralympics to get firsthand
information about Hong Kong's preparations for the Games.
Tsang said that the preparation work for the
equestrian events has been fully completed, and "we have the confidence and
capability to make sure that the equestrian events be successfully held in Hong
Kong."
