ULAN BATOR, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Mongolian Prime Minister Sanj Bayar said Saturday that the four-day state of emergency in Ulan Bator, the nation's capital, would be lifted midnight Saturday local time (1600 GMT).
The government and parties that hold seats in parliament agreed at an earlier meeting Saturday to handle Tuesday's riots and the alleged voting fraud in parliamentary elections by law, Bayar told a news conference.
They also agreed to take measures to avoid similar riots, he added.
The ruling Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party won the parliamentary elections held on Sunday. But supporters of other parties staged a protest Tuesday against alleged voting fraud in the elections.
The protest soon turned into riots, with five people reportedly killed and more than 300 others injured.
On Tuesday, President Nambariin Enkhbayar declared the country's first-ever state of emergency in the capital area starting from Wednesday.
