Vietnam-Laos-Thailand trade fair opens

    HANOI, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Companies from Vietnam, Laos and Thailand are displaying products and services, and seeking business opportunities in the Vietnamese province of Quang Tri from July 3-9, the People's Army newspaper reported on Wednesday.

    The companies are showcasing mainly machines, means of transport, medical equipment, processed foodstuffs, drinks, electrical and electronics appliances, farm products, telecommunications items, pharmaceuticals, and tourism, banking and medical services at the Vietnam-Laos-Thailand Trade Fair and Exhibition in the central province's Lao Bao town.

    They are also seeking business and investment opportunities in the Lao Bao special economic and trade zone in the province.

    Vietnam and Laos are striving to reach two-way trade of 1 billion U.S. dollars in 2010, four times bigger than the figure in2006, and of 2 billion dollars in 2015, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.

    The two-way trade between Vietnam and Thailand rose to 5 billion dollars in 2006 from 1.2 billion dollars in 2000. ¡¡
