UN chief calls for stronger partnership with China

    BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Visiting UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said here that the United Nations hopes to see China make bigger contribution in world affairs and establish a stronger partnership with the country.

    Ban made the remarks when holding talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Wednesday morning.

UN Secretary-General starts China visit

    BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon arrived in Beijing Tuesday afternoon, kicking off a three-day official visit to China at the invitation of Chinese government.

    During Ban's stay, Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao will meet with him respectively, and Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi will hold talks with him. Full story
